Destinations of my trips on Fuerteventura

See what I saw

Fuerteventura with its total area of 1660 square kilometres is double the size of my hometown Berlin but it only has 110.000 inhabitants. Even if you include the tourists you'll always have the possibility to be alone if you want. So there's more than enough to discover.

I hope my geographically overview can help you to decide for a round trip or a special destination depending on where your preferences are.

  • If you love diving or swimming I can recommend you the eastcoast where you'll find a 30 kilometres long white sandy beach from Costa Calma to Morro Jable. But here you'll almost never be alone cause there are hotels everywhere and a lot of visitors at the beaches.
  • Same is for the northern part near Corralejo. But a passing with a glass bottom boat to the island Lobos is on my "to do list". A really secret tip are the "canyons" Barrancos Encantados. You'll find a map to get there on my homepage.
  • Who doesn't want to spend the evenings alone can stay in the southern part in Morro Jable and Jandía or in the northern part in Corralejo. I wasn't in Correlejo at night but I read about it in some travel guides. Maybe I'll check that next time.
  • The midland is really ethnic and except of some villages little populated. But most streets are well developed and very serpentine-  perfect for motorbike tours. Also for bike - if you're strong enough to do the uphill parts ;) There are many viewpoints for taking breaks and enjoying the landscape.
  • Aong the westcoast you'll find mostly cliffs and rocky beaches. Most of the time it's very windy and swimmig in the ocean is nearly never possible. But you can take amazing photos of that wild landscape.
  • The southern part is mixed - as I wrote you have touristic areas but as soon as you drive out a bit you can enjoy mountains and lonely beaches
  • It's logical but still I want to say: sunrise you'll see on the eastcoast, sunsets on the westcoast ;)
